Interview: Dr.Pam Spurr

Welcome to our interview, Beauty Ties spoke to self-help expert, psychologist and painter Dr Pam Spurr online at https://drpam.co.uk/ , Twitter  https://twitter.com/DrPamSpurr
and Instagram  https://www.instagram.com/drpamspurr/ .

Beauty Ties: Welcome to our Beauty Ties blog Pam.
 How are you today?

Pam: I’m really well and happy to be a guest on your blog. Today’s been a classic day for me, some work as a coach and consultant plus some creative work!

Beauty Ties: People may know you from your books, radio, and appearances on television. What is your latest venture?

Pam: Although I still work as a self-help expert and consultant to many companies, I threw myself back into painting last autumn. It’s been incredible as I’d put my painting on hold for so many years. While raising my children we did lots of arts and crafts, but my artwork went by the wayside.

Beauty Ties: Your art work is so expressive, we love the pieces you have made. In fact we love it so much we own some pieces from your collection. How long have you been painting for?

Pam: I’m thrilled you have a painting of mine plus two pieces from my Sentiment gift range. I spend so much time on full-size paintings and also the unique gift range - being creative it keeps me sane. I used to paint as a teenager all the time. I was always immersed in art. You’d think it’d have kept me out of trouble but I was a raucous teen, I feel for my parents when I look back.

Collette: The painting I own picture is of Emergence no.2  This piece is so symbolic to me of changes. It resonated with me, coming out of the darkness into the light, renewed and free. When I saw this piece of art work I felt such a connection. It is like a butterfly or an angel, rising up. This is my first piece of artwork from an artist. Pam has used her emotion and thoughts to create a stunning art collection. Pam said this piece is based on a persons emergence into a stronger place. This piece inspires me  every day. The burst of light around the top as amazing. Julia bought this for me after I fell I in love with it, It is cherished.

Collette: The sentiment pieces got my attention instantly. The beauty of 24k gold glazed base surrounding fragments of a painting Pam created. The sentiment pieces are mounted in a bespoke wooden frame. I got one piece with birthday money from family. Pam, lovingly, gifted the other piece to me. It means even more to receive such art work from the artist personally. Pam is the most inspiring woman and artist I've ever met. You can own her artwork in above links to Pam's pages.

                          Moods in his mind.

Beauty Ties: What items can’t you leave the house without?

Pam: Obviously, I can’t leave without my phone, having worked freelance for many years (after leaving the NHS) it’s my lifeline to a vast array of jobs I get asked to do.
But I also have a little pouch containing something special from my mother and photos of my family. I NEVER go anywhere without that pouch.

Beauty Ties: What pieces of make up can’t you do without?

Pam: I’m a total lip gloss-junkie! I’m literally never without lip gloss, I put it on when I wake up and it’s on when I go to bed! Also mascara, sadly I wasn’t blessed with full lashes so I defo put it on wherever I go.

Beauty Ties: We think you are such an incredible and inspirational woman Pam. We have enjoyed your videos on twitter on how to cope in lockdown. What made you want to do them?

Pam: Thank you so much! I made the videos because I started getting an extraordinary number of contacts to my website drpam.co.uk. So many people were feeling anxious and worried about things like their family and relationships. Each video was just a very short practical tip. I find people respond well to straightforward advice that they can apply immediately.

Beauty Ties: Do you have any inspirational life advice you can give our BeauTies?

Pam: Yes, listen to your intuition! It’s our sixth sense and people will get “a feeling” about someone or a situation, but then ignore it. I also believe it’s crucial to get up every day and go to bed every night reminding yourself of your blessings no matter what challenges you’re presently facing.

 ‘Depths’

Beauty Ties: If you had three wishes what would they be?

Pam: Health for all of my family as one family member has serious health issues, a vaccine for coronavirus to stop all the suffering across the world, a larger area for my painting! It’s a bit of a crush where I paint at home presently.

Beauty Ties:  What artists do you like?

Pam: I love all sorts of art/sculpture including Ai Weiwei, Alyssa Monks, Frida Kahlo, Damien Hirst, my friend the abstract artist Johanna Melvin, Amber Lia-Kloppel, Lincoln Townley, Aude Grasset, and Jordan Casteel.

Erotic Dreams
Depression Lifting

Beauty Ties: Are there any pieces of art that you love looking at?

Pam: I could sit and stare forever at Monet’s huge waterlily paintings that I’ve seen a number of times in Paris. The tranquillity these paintings bring is like a full meditation session.

Beauty Ties: We want to say congratulations on your art collection. It truly is amazing to see.

Pam: Thank you so much! Presently on my website I have the smaller gift range and then some slightly larger paintings although as yet I haven’t posted any of my large works. I hope to find time to photograph them and put them up in the coming weeks

BeautyTies: Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to talk to us Pam and we wish you much success with your future artistic endeavours.

Collette : Art is all around us in every design from furniture to cosmetics. I love how Pam draws on her knowledge of how people feel and encapsulates a plethora of emotions in her art. Pams' knowledge and understanding of feelings and thoughts make her art unique. Her art has come from others' journeys and her own then projects the feelings on canvas. Pam can take her empathy towards others and create masterpieces. Her love for creating different textures with paint adds extra depth to a picture. I'm wanting to add more of her collection for my home. A picture can blend into the wall when you walk past. Pam's art work makes me 'feel' her art. Her art stands out from the wall. Its makes people stop and look. I have a connection with it that I don't get from the other pictures I have hanging on my walls. When I sit at the dining table I often look to Emergence no.2 picture and smile. The connection I have to this piece is astonishing. It makes me think of the saying a cattery once told me. "When you look for a cat to bring home, you don't choose the cat. It chooses you." I think of Pam's artwork like this. Her Emergence no.2 found me and I had to bring it home. It was like she understood my soul and painted it. It's magnificent.

A Haunting Memoir: Part one

My story starts when I was a young child. I was born in Scotland but moved down to Somerset as a child. I loved it so much. I loved the flowers and the conkers I’d collect on the way to school. I remember all the frogs in my garden and how I'd name them. I moved twice down in England. The houses were always large and I’d get the rooms mixed up, trying to remember where to turn to find my bedroom. I would visit London where my relatives stayed. I loved the vibe of London. One visit to my Nans, we walked down to Church Street market and seeing so many interesting people. The one man with dreadlocks holding a large ghetto blaster on his shoulder playing Bob Marley passed me. I couldn’t get enough of the place. One stall had toys on it. I bought some wooden blocks and a handheld electronic mini piano. They were perfect mementos to remember my visit. When we returned to Scotland I unpacked and placed my electronic piano on my bedside table. It had colours on the notes and London Bridge

L’Oréal Revitalift

L’Oréal are an established company that have delivered quality beauty products for over a century . L’Oréal is a brand I can trust. I worked with L’Oréal by trying the Revitalift range of products over six months. This range offers more than the skincare I was using. I invite you to read more about Revitalift and my journey with this range. ~ Collette.      Revitalift is a range of products I had seen advertised and heard amazing feedback from others. I was thrilled when L’Oréal invited me to try these products over the lockdown months. I am in my 40’s and I struggled to find skincare that is effective. Lockdown has taken it’s toll on my skin. I have new wrinkles from tears and frustration like a lot of people. Firstly I tried their Revitalift Laser Renewal moisturiser. This was lovely and light on the skin. This moisturiser is the first moisturiser I used. It has a subtle colour to it that leaves a gorgeous glow on the skin. Revitalift Laser Renew is light on the skin. It gives skin a

Beauty Ties creator: Collette

Hello BeauTies, I have always loved art from an early age. Taking photographs and drawing or painting. I have designed two wedding dresses for friends who got them made up. I've adored beauty products since I had my Victoria Plum nail polish and lip balm from Avon as a child. I love beauty products and how they make me feel. The colours and scents. I get so much joy from trying new products and photographing them. I skipped the afternoon one day at school and ended up in a movie. That was unexpected and it fuelled my passion for creativity and how things are made. It was an experience I will never forget. My name was taken by someone in the crew to go in the credits but when I saw the movie I was not on the credits, sadly. I will never forget the joy I got from being in it. Long days from early mornings and late finishes. The photo from the press shoot hangs in my hallway. Julia urged me to hang it up rather than feel ashamed of it. So it’s hanging up in my home for the first tim
